The Sawmill River signage concept in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, highlights the river's historical, ecological, and cultural significance. Inspired by daylighting, the design symbolizes renewal and the connection between urban and natural spaces. Using durable materials like weathering steel, frosted acrylic, wood, and concrete, the project features interpretive panels, an interactive installation, and an entrance ID sign. These elements combine archival narratives with illustrations of local species and restoration efforts. Located in Martin’s Park, the signage educates visitors on the river’s legacy and ecological renewal, offering an engaging and meaningful experience.
